General Plan

The general plan is the vision document for the future of the community.

State law dictates that land use decisions must have a basis from the general plan. The plan includes a vision statement of what Elk Ridge is and what it can become. Areas of emphasis or elements of the plan include; land use, transportation system, open space preservation areas, parks and trails, moderate income housing needs, economic development, and areas that could be annexed into the city in the future.

The planning commission has jurisdiction over the general plan. They develop it through input by the city council and citizens. The current plan was adopted by the city council in June 2010. The document is posted on this website in the left column.
